SFDA Participates in World Food Safety Day Under the Theme “Food Standards Save Lives”

<p>The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) participates in the celebration of the World Food Safety Day, which falls on Wednesday (the 7th of June of each year), under the theme “Food Standards Save Lives”.</p>

<p>The celebration of this day aims to promote a culture of food safety, comply with food standards and raise awareness of their importance, and reduce food risks by raising awareness and helping to prevent, detect and manage risks transmitted through food.</p>

<p>SFDA contributes, through the workshops it organizes and the inspection and control tours, to ensure the safety of imported food through its conformity with the approved regulations and specifications, preserving food safety during the manufacturing stages, and ensuring its safety during storage, in addition to cooperating with local aremotelynd international bodies for safety&nbsp;foods.</p>

<p>In this context, the SFDA held a lecture remotely with the participation of a number of organizations such as: Codex Alimentarius (CODEX) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), to discuss the role of standards and their importance in maintaining the safety and health of society.</p>

<p>During the lecture, they reviewed the most prominent efforts made in the process of preparing standards, and the extent of the impact of standards on the safety and health of society, in addition to the most prominent obstacles facing international organizations when preparing standards.</p>
