The S.F.D.A Participated in the Workshop of Pharmaceutical Products Intellectual Property

The S.F.D.A (represented by its drug sector) participated in the workshop of pharmaceutical products intellectual property which is organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Riyadh, on Sunday the 12th of Rabee Athanee, 1428H, corresponding to the 29th of April, 2007. <br />His Excellency d. Saleh Bawazeer the vice president of drug affairs, d. Hajed bin Mohammed bin Hashan the manager of registration department and pharmacist Bassam Alawn attended the workshop.<br />Representatives of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Licenses General Department that belong to the Ministry of Health participated in the workshop beside the Saudi Patents Office of King Abdulaziz City for Sciences and Technology, the Arabian Gulf Patents Office, some representatives of pharmaceutical national companies, some consultant offices, a Germany consultants office specialized in intellectual property, a professor from Bonn University and a specialized company of intellectual property from Jordan.<br />At the beginning of the meeting, attendants discussed the concept of pharmaceutical products intellectual property, how to obtain it and benefit from it. Then they conferred the relationship between the intellectual property and pharmaceutical products, and the importance of it in national and regional pharmaceutical manufacturing.<br />It worth mentioning that the drug sector is setting a database of protected pharmaceutical products in the Kingdom and it will be published in the S.F.D.A website when it is completed.</p>
