SFDA Intercepts Over 301 Tons of Non-Compliant Food Products in Q2 2026

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) prevented the entry of more than 301 tons of non-compliant food products into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the second quarter of 2026, following laboratory testing that confirmed microbial contamination posing food poisoning risks to consumers.

This action reflects the SFDA’s ongoing commitment to protecting consumer health and enforcing compliance with approved regulations. It highlights the effectiveness of its regulatory system in verifying food product safety, thereby safeguarding public health and strengthening food safety.

During the same period, the SFDA conducted 17,096 inspection visits to establishments under its jurisdiction. These field inspections identified 1,960 non-compliant establishments and led to the detection of 1,016 non-compliant products. The proactive campaign is part of the Authority’s continuous mandate to elevate operational compliance and ensure all circulating products adhere to approved technical standards and regulations.

The SFDA reiterated the necessity for all establishments to adhere to official regulations and legislation. The Authority emphasized that comprehensive monitoring efforts will continue, warning that violators face strict legal action—including business suspension, imprisonment, or fines of up to SAR 10 million.
