The SFDA Begins Field Inspection Tours as Part of the Hajj Season Preparations

As part of its early and comprehensive preparations for the Hajj season 2025, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has launched a series of field inspection tours across key locations and facilities. The purpose is to assess the state of readiness of the inspection teams and to monitor the implementation of approved plans, with the aim of protecting the health and safety of pilgrims by ensuring the highest standards of food, drug, and medical product safety.

With pilgrims' well-being at the core of its mission, the SFDA’s leaders met on the ground with inspection teams in Madinah and Jeddah. The meetings served to reinforce the importance of each inspector’s role, revisit operational plans, and explore proactive solutions for expected challenges, ensuring that teams are well-prepared, responsive, and empowered to act with professionalism and care.

The visits also included thorough inspections of food factories and facilities to monitor compliance with health and technical standards. These efforts aim to guarantee that pilgrims receive safe, high-quality food products during their spiritual journey, helping to build trust and confidence in the quality of services and products throughout the season.

The SFDA’s field presence extended to its office and Hajj Operations Center at the Government Complex in Makkah, as well as vital locations at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, including the air cargo terminal and the Hajj Terminal. These tours focused on verifying the efficiency of inspection checkpoints in managing Hajj-related shipments and ensuring swift and smooth operations in high-traffic environments.

These inspection tours are more than routine; they are part of a broader commitment by the SFDA to stand with pilgrims every step of the way. By supporting its inspectors, enhancing coordination, and fostering a culture of safety, the SFDA aims to create a health-secure and positive environment for pilgrims throughout their stay in the Holy Sites.
