New Diabetic Foot Diagnostic Device Paves Way for Medical Software Industry in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has issued its first license for a medical software and applications factory, marking a significant step forward in healthcare innovation in Saudi Arabia. This initiative is part of the results of the Licensing Initiative for Medical Software Developers in Digital Health, which was launched during the Global Health Exhibition 2024 in Riyadh.

The licensed factory has developed an innovative medical device for the early diagnosis of diabetic foot symptoms using thermal imaging technology and image analysis through advanced software. The device has passed all necessary clinical studies approved by the SFDA.

The SFDA confirmed that this action reflects its dedication to supporting the growth of the medical device industry, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, and to encouraging innovation among innovators in the field of advanced medical devices and supplies.
