The CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Dr. Hisham bin Saad Aljadhey, has recently met with a delegation from the Veterinary Inspectorate of the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The meeting was attended by the Commercial Attaché at the Kingdom's Embassy in Germany, Sulaiman Al-Humaidan, the Executive Vice President of the Operations Sector, Sami Al-Saqr, and the Executive Vice President of the Food Sector, Dr. Mohammed Al-Nasser.
During the meeting, they discussed important topics such as trade exchange, procedures between the two countries, and the lifting of the ban on a Polish facility. It was noted that the ban was lifted after the facility met the Authority's requirements to ensure the safety of its product.
The meeting also included a review of the safety measures implemented by the Polish government to ensure the meat's safety and it is free from diseases. The SFDA also discussed the process of lifting bans on specific provinces based on decisions and publications by the Animal Health Organization. This organization identifies whether areas are infected or free from livestock-related diseases.
In the meeting with the Polish delegation, the representatives of the Authority clarified that the import of live animals must adhere to the policies and procedures set by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in the Kingdom. They also stated that processed meat must comply with the Authority's requirements and policies.
Both sides agreed that the Food and Drug Authority will conduct workshops for Polish businessmen in Riyadh during the first quarter of 2024. The purpose of these workshops, according to the SFDA, is to educate them about the registration procedures that must be followed before exporting their products to Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the workshops will cover the controls approved by the Authority to ensure the safety of the products.
