SFDA to Organize a Workshop on Camel Feed and Veterinary Medicine Safety at Crown Prince Camel Festival

In the sixth edition of the "Crown Prince Camel Festival" hosted by the city of Taif, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) will organize a workshop on the safety of feed and veterinary medicines tomorrow, Monday, in cooperation with the Saudi Camel Federation.

The workshop will include scientific and awareness materials, emphasizing that responsible use protects camels and contributes to the preservation of human health and the environment.

It comes within the framework of "The Year of The Camel" initiatives, which the Council of Ministers has designated as a name for the current year, 2024, to reinforce Saudi Arabia's commitment to its cultural and ancient heritage.

In this context, the SFDA advises consulting with a veterinarian for safe use of veterinary medicines for camels by checking that the medicines are registered with the SFDA, reading the internal leaflet, and following the instructions for storage and use.

Regarding camel feeding, the SFDA emphasizes the importance of purchasing the feed from licensed markets and points of sale, and reading the information on the packaging to determine the appropriate type of feed for camels. Feed must be stored properly to ensure the safety of its components and prevent contamination. Proper temperature and humidity conditions, as indicated on the registered product's label, should be maintained. Additionally, avoid placing feed directly on the floor, as this can lead to damage. It should also be kept away from chemicals or other materials, such as cleaning agents and pesticides and the like, as they negatively affect its safety.
