"SFDA" warns of "Razaz" potable water due to excessive ratio bromate

​SFDA warned consumption of "Razaz" water because it exceeded the allowable limit of bromate substance.

Also SFDA said in a statement, they pulled samples of locally produced bottled drinking water during the past period and several batches of the production of dates, different sizes, to determine its compliance to the GSO standard number (1025/2009 bottled drinking water), which set the maximum allowable percentage of material bromate at 10 ppb, and the results of laboratory analysis for samples of "RAZAZ"water in sizes (250, 330 and 600) ml produced by the RAZAZ water factory in Al Majmaah Riyadh province exceeded the maximum limits referred to.

SFDA recommended the consumers to avoid consumption of these products and dispose what they have, pointing out that it already spoke to the relevant authorities to take the necessary actions and it required the plant to withdraw the products from local markets, and shut down production lines for refills.

SFDA confirmed that it will continue to monitor factories producing drinking bottled water and it will monitor all products traded in local markets and it will take all the necessary actions against offending factories, SFDA called to report any violation through Alert System for Food and crisis management center, via e-mail: alert.food@sfda.gov.sa, or Fax:  0112751921
