SFDA Exhibits Fake Commodities at the 3rd Arab Forum for Counterfeit Combating & Protection of Proprietary Rights

Dr. Ibrahim bin Abdul Aziz Al Assaf, the Minister of Finance, launched yesterday the activities of the 3rd  Arab Forum for Counterfeit Combating &amp; Protection of Proprietary Rights and the associated exhibition entitled:’ The 2nd. Arab Exhibition for Consumer Awareness of Generic Medical Devices’ organized by Saudi Customs Department, during the period 3-5 March 2013, at King Faisal Conference Hall, Intercontinental Hotel, Riyadh.H.E. The Chief Executive Officer of SFDA, Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Kanhal delivered a brief presentation to H.E. Minister of Finance, at SFDA’s Stand in the associated Exhibition, wherein he reviewed SFDA’s effort in combating counterfeit in the area of food, drug and medical devices &amp; products; and showed samples of counterfeit  Saffron and some sex-drugs and fake biomedical devices.SFDA participated in the activities of the fifth dimension of the forum sessions, which was chaired by H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Kanhal,  under the banner: ‘ Integrated Strategies for facing Commercial Counterfeit phenomena and Protection of Proprietary Rights ‘. Pharmacist, Mohammad bin Ali Dahaas presented a paper entitled: ‘ Changing drug from a Medicine to a Disease’,  in addition to several participants from Shoura Council, Saudi Customs and Council of Chambers of Commerce, in this dimension. It worth mentioning that the forum discussed the ways of facing counterfeit and protection of proprietary rights and the internal &amp; external control role, to ensure safety of products; besides the diverse impact of the growing commercial counterfeit phenomena and the strategies of facing faked commodities from the country of origin, production, export, consumption, transportation and countries  of import.</p>
