H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Kanhal, SFDA President, chaired the second session of Consumer Protection Symposium in Saudi Arabia entitled&quot; Global Insights &amp; Experiences&quot;, Last Sunday 1/7/1431AH. The Symposium was organized by the Institute of Public Administration and held at Ibn Khaldoun Hall of Prince Sulman Conference Center at the Institute of Public Administration Headquarters in Riyadh<br />The second session entitled&quot; Consumer Protection - Global Experiences&quot; was chaired by H.E. SFDA President who opened the session by welcoming the audience and keynote speakers from U.K, USA and Singapore.<br />The symposium witnessed effective and significant participation from within the Kingdom and abroad wherein key international experiences in the field of consumer protection were highlighted.<br />Invitation to the symposium included Samuel Otchiang CI President, Dr. William Kovatchits CFT Governor, Peter V. Smith President of WHICH, Yu Jwat President of CASE who presented papers reflecting their experience in the field of consumer protection in order to benefit from them. Local entities had participated in the symposium to shed the light on these experiences, including Ministry of Commerce &amp; Industry, Ministry of Health, Board of Grievance, SASO, Customs Department, Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce, King Saud University, Saudi Consumer Protection Society and the Institute of Public Administration in addition to SFDA.<br />It worth mentioning that the symposium lasted for two days and highlighted the actual status of consumer protection in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to identify the major issues and challenges encountered by consumer protection and how to overcome them. The symposium discussed through its several sessions perception of consumer protection from consumer point of view, government entities and respective private corporations and establishments, consumer protection legislations, mechanisms, shortcomings , problems hindering the enforcement of Consumer Protection Regulations in the Kingdom , emerging global trends in the field of consumer protection, successful international experiences and how to make use of them.</p>
