The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) held a meeting on Monday, January 5, 2026, with the National Committee of Pharmacies of the Federation of Saudi Chambers to discuss challenges associated with the implementation of the Drug Track and Trace System (RSD). The meeting took place at the SFDA’s headquarters in Riyadh, attended by several specialists from both sides.

The meeting reviewed aspects of joint cooperation to enhance the efficiency of RSD implementation and raise compliance levels within the pharmacy sector. This collaboration aims to enhance drug safety and quality, support the reliability of the pharmaceutical supply chain, and improve the efficiency of data exchange regarding pharmaceutical tracking. Both sides also discussed the importance of developing the regulatory and technical work environment to keep pace with digital transformation targets in the healthcare sector.

During the meeting, the SFDA emphasized its commitment to partnering with the private sector and working in an integrated manner to address challenges with a public impact. This approach supports the stability of the pharmaceutical market and ensures pharmacies are prepared to meet regulatory requirements.

The SFDA also stressed the importance of ongoing coordination and follow-up with the National Committee of Pharmacies to achieve common goals, support the efficiency of the healthcare sector, and reflect the Authority’s role in protecting public health and enhancing community confidence in the pharmaceutical system.
