SFDA Pioneers AI Integration in Food Control, Unveiling Initiative at Digital Government Forum 2025

To leverage modern technologies in its regulatory operations, the CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), H.E. Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey, launched Automation and Use of Artificial Intelligence for Food Control". The launch took place during the fourth edition of the Digital Government Forum 2025, held in Riyadh from November 5–6.

Dr. Aljadhey emphasized that the service relies on employing a range of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and robotic automation for control operations. This initiative embodies the SFDA's strategic direction to leverage modern technologies, enhancing the quality and efficiency of control procedures, expediting food data analysis, and enabling a proactive response to potential risks.

He also noted that these advanced technologies accurately process and analyze food data, contributing to improved risk assessment of chemical and microbial contaminants, and achieving more than 99% accuracy in assessing food exposure to additives. Operationally, this has reduced processing time by over 80% and saved more than 3,000 working hours per month.

This initiative represents an extension of the SFDA’s commitment to enhance product safety, improve quality of life, and leverage modern technologies in its operations, in line with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program, one of the key initiatives under the Saudi Vision 2030.
